shasta with snow!

It has been raining around Chico for the last couple days, which means it’s been snowing up at Tahoe and Shasta!

At work on Friday, Cavan asked me if I wanted to go to Mt. Shasta with a friend of his. Not one to turn down a snowboarding trip, I agreed and we were off at 5:30am this morning (bleh.) What I didn’t know was that his friend is from his from home town, which happens to be Maui, Hawaii. This guy has never seen snow. Well, until today :)

We drove north on I-5 in the rain and, sure enough, just past Dunsmuir the rain turned to sleet which turned to fully-fledged snow. We started seeing patches of snow on the ground. I tend to get excited when I see the snow, but I can’t even remember the very first time I saw snow. This guy was freaking out, taking a couple dozen pictures through the window and marveling and how cold the whole experience was.

Needless to say, there is currently about 4 feet of snow at Shasta, and it dumped about a half-foot on us today – with no sign of letting up! Here’s a snapshot of the parking lot of the hotel taken with the iSight of my MBP:

Anyway, I still love snowboarding. I really do.

But I’m pissed at the guy because he’d never been snowboarding a day in his life, and totally rocks the board now. He barely fell at all, and never once off the lift :-/

You’ll always be better than me, me to snowboarding is white man to basketball. And no I don’t mean Larry Byrd!

What is this “hotel” noise? Dumbass, when you hit Shasta you get food and bed for free!

But srsly, what was I to say? “Hi, B’s mom and dad, I’m staying here for the night, thanks for feeding me!”
